Neal was a great friend of mine in high school and beyond. He was a loner and danced to the beat of a different drum, I'll always remember him as a kind intelligent person. And although we weren't in contact recently.... I'll always remember him as a beautiful and inspiring person.

I was fortunate to have had Neal as my stepbrother. Although our paths did not cross until we were both adults, whenever we did meet at family events it was always a pleasure to spend time with him and catch up on his life adventures. With my husband Randy, we all shared interests of old house restoration, photography, travel and IT. As I was also so lucky to have had Neal's father Orval as my stepfather, I was privy to hearing Orval's adventures with Neal as well. Orval and Neal shared a special bond and I know how much Orval, the father, respected Neal, the son. They both had a mutual love and admiration for one another. They were kind, intelligent, thoughtful men that we are all sorry to have lost. Losing them both within the same year is unimaginable. My condolences to his siblings, his children, and other loved ones. Much love, Nancy

So sorry for your loss Cathy. I still can't believe it. What a very good and unique individual. I really didn't know him that well, but good enough to know what a great guy he was. Spent many a time up at his place during school and that is where I probably got to know him the best. Was so good to see him at our 35 year reunion, he seemed to be so at ease and easy to engage with. I am very sure he will be waiting when the time comes. The saying really fits with Neal when they say "The good die young!" With him it did.........

I had the honor of working with Neal at Nike over several years. In so many ways we were polar opposites when it came to problem solving, organizational skill and communication. Neal was the grounded and introspective one, while I was the extroverted dreamer. Together we were a wonderful balance and I truly valued Neal’s open minded, steady and calm spirit. He was a grounding force that I leaned on many times. I will truly miss him and send my heart-felt prayers to his family.

Neal Ause was a most memorable man. He was my first college roommate at the dorms at the University of Oregon in 1977 and we quickly became friends. Neal was one of the most open-minded people I'd ever met and we had numerous conversations on politics, spirituality, sports and everything in between.
RIP Neal!
