David Arthur Aspaas
January 4, 1947 - July 28th, 2016
David Aspaas, 69, of Vancouver, WA passed away in Vancouver, WA on July 28th, 2016 due to lung cancer while surrounded by family and close friends. David was born in Vancouver, WA on January 4, 1947 to Barbara and Lloyd Aspaas. He attended Hudson’s Bay High School, joined the U.S. Air Force after high school and was a member of the UA Local 290 Plumbers & Steamfitters for over 40 years.
David joined the Air Force in May 1966, was stationed in Bitburg, Germany and discharged in May 1970. He began to learn his trade while in the Air Force. He met and married Helma while stationed in Germany in 1970 and together they had 2 children, Marco and Corina.
He enjoyed spending time at his beach house in Ocean Park, WA, which he built. After his retirement David and Helma became snowbirds and spent the winter months at their place in Apache Junction, AZ. He enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking and playing golf. David was also a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose.
David is survived by his wife, Helma; His children, Marco and Corina; His granddaughter, Isabella; His brothers and sister, John (Joan), Julia (Robert Bobo), Ron (JoAnne) and Richard (Patti) and was predeceased by his father and mother, Lloyd and Barbara Aspaas.
Grave-side services will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on August 24, 2016 at 11:00am. A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion in Vancouver, WA located at, 4607 NE St James Rd, Vancouver, WA 98663 from 2:30pm-5:00pm.
