JOYCE RINGQUIST (ZEEMAN) DIED PEACEFULLY IN HER SLEEP AT HER HOME IN CAMAS ON APRIL 16, 2016 AFTER A BRIEF BATTLE WITH PANCREATIC CANCER. SHE WAS 85.
JOYCE IS SURVIVED BY BOB, HER BELOVED HUSBAND OF 57 YEARS, CHILDREN- STEVE (KAREN) OF CAMAS, GAYLE (STEVE) OF FEDERAL WAY AND MIKE (PAM) OF STATESVILLE, NC. GRANDCHILDREN- BRIANNA (BRANDON), DARREN (MEGAN), JOSH, COLTEN AND JENESSA. GREAT GRANCHILDREN- BECKUM, LORELEI AND OLIVER. SIBILINGS- DARRELL, SHERM, LAMAR, MARTHA, BARBARA, ROBERT AND CARMA. JOYCE ALSO HAD NUMEROUS NIECES, NEPHEWS AND COUSINS AND MANY FRIENDS. SHE IS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HER PARENTS JOHN AND MARTHA ZEEMAN, SISTERS BERNICE, ALENE, MAXINE AND HER BROTHERS CHARLES AND LEON AND THREE DAUGHTERS WHO WERE STILLBORN.
JOYCE WAS BORN ON JULY 10, 1030 IN PAYSON, UTAH TO JOHN AND MARTHA ZEEMAN. SHE WAS THE FIFTH OF THIRTEEN CHILDREN. SHE GRADUATED FROM PAYSON HIGH SCHOOL IN 1948. SHE MARRIED BOB IN 1959 IN SALT LAKE CITY AND MOVED TO CAMAS IN 1960. THE COUPLE WELCOMED THREE CHILDREN INTO THEIR HOME OVER THE NEXT NINE YEARS. JOYCE MANAGED THE MONTGOMERY WARD STORE IN DOWNTOWN CAMAS FOR A FEW YEARS AND THEN WENT TO WORK HELPING BOB AT HIS INSURANCE OFFICE FOR FARMER’S INSURANCE IN DOWNTOWN CAMAS FOR OVER 20 YEARS. BECAUSE OF THEIR LOVE OF PHOTOGRAPY THEY FOLLOWED THEIR DREAM AND OPENED A ONE HOUR PHOTO LAB CALLED 205 PHOTO EXPRESS IN 1983 IN VANCOUVER WHICH THEY RAN FOR 14 YEARS BEFORE RETIRING.
JOYCE WAS A TRUE WOMAN OF MANY TALENTS. GROWING UP SHE WAS THE DRUMMER FOR HER FAMILY’S BAND. SHE ALSO EXCELLED IN PLAYING THE GUITAR, PIANO AND VIOLIN. SHE LOVED TO SING AND HAD A BEAUTIFUL VOICE. SHE WAS AN ARTIST WHO LOVED THE MEDIUM OF PASTELS. SHE TOOK MANY ART LESSONS AT CLARK COLLEGE OVER THE YEARS. SHE ENJOYED SEWING AND MADE HER DAUGHTER’S WEDDING DRESS AND HER GRANDCHILDREN’S BLESSING OUTFITS WHICH HER GREAT GRANDCHILDREN ALSO WORE. SHE WAS A MASTER GARDENER WHO LOVED TO GROW VEGETABLES, BERRIES AND FLOWERS. SHE WAS WELL KNOWN FOR SHARING HER BOUNTY OF GARDEN GOODIES WITH OTHERS AND FOR HER HOMEMADE RASPBERRY JAM. SHE ENJOYED VOLUNTEERING AT HELEN BALLER AND WAS A LIFELONG MEMBER OF THE LDS CHURCH WHERE SHE TAUGHT RECENTLY IN THE CHILDREN’S PROGRAM AND YOUNG WOMEN’S PROGRAM.
A CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE IS SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 23, 2016 AT 11AM AT THE LDS PRUNE HILL CHAPEL WITH BISHOP GREG GILLESPIE OFFICIATING. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND AND CELEBRATE JOYCE’S LIFE.
