Obituary of Judy Ann Schmeichel

Judy Ann Schmeichel passed away on Monday April 4, 2016, at her home in Vancouver, Washington, at the age of 76. Judy was born in Mobridge, South Dakota, grew up in Mahto, South Dakota, and attended McLaughlin high school. She married Willard Schmeichel in 1958 and lived on the farm raising five children; Curt, Jeff, Roberta, Tonya and Dena. She spent her time as a home maker, making kids' clothes and caring for grandchildren. She worked as a cook at the McLaughlin hospital, volunteered at the Congregational church cleaning and working with the ladies aid and volunteered at the legion auxiliary. Later, she provided assisted in-home care for the elderly. In 1990, she moved to Washington where she also did in-home care & then retired. Judy enjoyed traveling, going on weekend excursions & being a member of the Red Hat Society. Judy is survived by her son Curt of Mobridge, South Dakota, daughter Roberta of Billings, Montana, Tonya of Kelso, Washington & Dena of Stockbridge, Georgia; her brother Floyd of Whitehall, Arkansas, sister Joann of Aberdeen, South Dakota and sister Joyce of Little Rock, Arkansas. She had 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren & many nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Jeffery, parents John & Martha Huber, brother Jerry & sister Doris. Funeral services to be announced at a later time at McLaughlin, South Dakota, where judy will be laid to rest next to her son.
