Obituary of Patricia Ann Friauf

Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patricia Ann Friauf passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, with her loving family by her side following a brave battle with cancer. Pat was born to SW and Ruth Price in Glasgow, Montana. Her family later moved to Shelton, WA where she grew up with sisters Sharon (Codarre) and Peg (Stock-Penney). Pat graduated from the University of Washington, and was a lifelong Husky. She later received her Masters in Education from Oregon State University. She was married to Charles (Bill) Friauf, Jr., and they had two children—Trey (Charles) Friauf III and Paige Patricia (Perry). Pat began her teaching career in the Vancouver School District, and was the second female ever hired as a principal in the district. She was committed to working with kids and teachers for the next 31 years as a teacher at Vancouver High School and Lewis, Jr. High, Vice Principal of Shumway, Jr. High, Principal of Gaiser, Jr. High, Principal at Fort Vancouver High School and Principal at Columbia River High School. Pat retired from River in 1999. Pat was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She dedicated her life to helping others. Her favorite times were spent with her children, grandchildren and other beloved relatives at the family cabin in the Puget Sound. Pat looked forward to attending every one of her grandchildren’s sports, activities and performances. She was everyone’s best supporter. Pat loved traveling to Husky football games with her son and grandchildren, watching sports on TV, reading and collecting pens. She was also an avid animal lover that could never say “no” to a stray dog. Pat is survived by her children, Trey Friauf (Angie) and Paige Perry (Seth), grandchildren Hunter, Sydney, Riley, Sophie and Gray, partner of 44 years Bob Jackson, sisters Peg and Sharon, and many loving nieces and nephews (as well as two dogs). She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, and many pets. Words cannot express the love we feel for Pat, and how her presence, support and laughter will be missed. She always made time for us. Those who knew Pat are invited to join in a Celebration of Life at Luepke Center on Friday, April 29th at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SW Washington Humane Society.
