Obituary of Sonja Rhea Balkowitsch

Sonja Rhea Balkowitsch November 25, 1966 ~ December 1, 2015 Sonja R Balkowitsch, age 49, passed away, in her Vancouver home, on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 after a long and hard battle with cancer. From her birth in Seattle on November 25, 1966 to her death on Monday, she was a loving and caring spirit for all of those close to her. She moved to Vancouver when she was only 4 years old with her parents, Russell and Marlana Brown, and her younger brother Rusty. She graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1986 and worked a string of odd ball jobs. It was her loving and caring spirit that caught the eye of Vern Balkowitsch, Jr in the summer of 1992, and they were inseparable. They married on September 29, 1996 lived out their lives in their Vancouver home. Sonja, who worked in food service for the Battle Ground School District for 15 years, also enjoyed being a member of the Orchards Lions Club. When she wasn’t busy working or volunteering her time, she loved spending time with her husband out on their fishing boat. Sonja is survived by her husband Vern, her daughter (Ashlie), son (Jacob), son-in-law, (Joshua), her first grandchild, Rowan, and her brother Rusty. She will be remembered as the back bone of the family, and a shining light for anyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
