Obituary of Svend A. Jensen

Svend A. Jensen ~ 85 Battle Ground, Washington May 30, 1930 ~ October 18, 2015 Svend Aage Jensen passed peacefully in his sleep October 18th, 2015. He was born May 30th, 1930 in Copenhagen, Denmark, the youngest of Niels & Agnes Jensen’s two children. He grew up in the middle of World War II in Nazi-occupied Denmark. In his early twenties, he served in the Danish navy. In 1952 he met Henni, who was to become the love of his life. Two years later they were married, and a year after that, their first daughter, Lene was born. In 1957 Svend and Henni made the decision to leave their families and move across the pond to the United States. They landed in Battle Creek, Michigan and had their second daughter, Christina, in 1961. Svend worked for Post Cereal at night and went to school at Western Michigan University during the day, eventually earning his degree in Industrial Engineering. After that, they were off to the Northwest, where they had their third daughter Susan, and spent the rest of their lives. Svend was a man of many fruitful careers, who worked hard all his life to provide a good life for Henni and their girls. Eventually, he sold his business and retired in 1996. After he retired, he and Henni enjoyed many adventures together, including a motorhome, a condo in Hawaii, and a beach house in Washington. Svend was preceded in death by his sister, Anna-Lise Petersen, and his daughter, Lene Hendricks. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Henni Jensen, and daughters, Tina (Rick) Crook and Susan (Brad) Brock. Additional survivors include his grandchildren Anna (Jason) Holland, Michelle (Ed) Horne, Nathan (Airickah) Hendricks, Joshua Hendricks, Amber (Michael) Murray, Theresa Brock, Bryan Wicker, Ian Brock, and Cassidy Wicker. Great grandchildren include Hailey, Zachary, Judah, Sophia, Kennedy, Connor, Emma, and one more on the way. His family was his pride and joy.
