Obituary of Steven O.J. Severson

Please share a memory of Steven to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Steven OJ Severson went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 4th. 2021. His desire to enter eternity and celebrate the Fall Feasts of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Tabernacles happened. He passed away at age 66 surrounded by family and friends due to complications from ALS. Born in Hood River, Oregon on May 25th. 1955, he was the middle son of the late Carl and Charlotte Severson. Steve is survived by his wife of 24 years Diane Renae Severson; his sister Judy Werre and her husband Jim; brother Larry Severson and his wife Kathy; his daughter Dawn J Scott and her husband Henry; his son Michael D Severson and his wife Jennifer; and his nine beautiful grandchildren that he was very proud of: Jordan, Shantelle, Alyssa, Ashlyn, Noah, Amiyah, Jonah, Nathaniel, and Lily-Ann. Steve was a US army veteran and was known for his sharp demeanor. He always had a way of thinking outside the box, everyone who knew him appreciated that. Steve loved motorcycles, hotrods and drag racing. This led him to his career as a mechanic. Steve was gifted with an entrepreneurial spirit, resulting in the ownership of The Break Shop located on Mill Plain Boulevard in Vancouver Washington. His ability to find God in everything he did, led him to share his generosity and faith with many of his customers, acquaintances, neighbors, and family. Steve mentored Luke Hendrickson in all operations of the Brake Shop, he was especially proud and grateful to be able to leave the day-to-day operations and the management of his beloved business to Luke Hendrickson. Steve encouraged everyone he met. ALS never kept him from reaching out to others. He had a favorite saying during the last year of his life, “The valley is deep, but it is not dark, ” a testimony to his courage and faith. The family would like to thank Kristi and Ephraim Barstad, Luke and Lauralynn Hendrickson, Pastors Bob and Kris Hill and their church family at Renewed Hope Ministries for helping to keep Steve home during his fight with ALS. He wanted everyone to make memories with the ones you love because we are not promised tomorrow. Everyone who knew Steve will remember his strong and enduring faith, loving devotion to his wife, family, friends and his deep appreciation for his business associates and Brake Shop customers. His memorial will be officiated by Pastor Bob Hill on Saturday September 25th. 2021, at 2:00 pm at Renewed Hope Ministries located at 716 West 17th street, Vancouver WA 98660 (corner of 17th. and Harney St. accessible entrance is on the east side of the building).
