Judith Lynn Sorter Born, August 04,1947 Aberdeen Washington Died, June 11, 2021 Vancouver, Washington Our family moved from Hoquiam Washington to Vancouver WA in 1952 in order for Judi to attend the School for the Blind. School was Judi's true joy, she learned to read and she never stopped. As the family story goes, Judi skipped the third grade because she had read all the books in the school library. Life gave Judi opportunities and she grabbed them. Judi graduated from the School for the Blind and Hudson Bay High School in 1965. Judi went on to the University of Washington and stayed in the area for many years. When Judi returned to Vancouver it was to work at the School for the Blind . Judi over the years had various jobs at the school until she retired in 2012. Judi liked working at the school with its challenges and rewards. Judi with assistance of Tina Corey, fostered and sponsored children from every corner of the world with faith and love . One of the best jobs Judi had was helping to raise children of the heart, Michaela Corey, Sylvia Corey and Charles Corey. Judi is a wordsmith and a story teller. From a young age Judi entertained family and friends with the poetry and stories she wrote. "Dreaming in Dots" A Memoir in Verse, is a collection of her poetry can be found on Amazon Kindle. Judi's voice and inflection brought her stories to life and smiles to our faces. Judi was a joy to be around, always ready for an adventure or a good conversation. Judi was extremely well read as was our brother Alan. When we played Triva one of them always won. Judi loved games, cards, scrabble and of course Triva were among her favorite. Judith Lynn Sorter was/is special and those who knew her are better because of her. We had to say goodbye to the physical Judi but we will never say goodbye to the spirit and warmth she gave us. Judi is preceeded in death by our brothers Alan and Michael Sorter. Judi is survived by her sisters Janie Sutton and Nancy Osterlund. Our Aunt Wanda Spicer and cousin Charlie Spicer. Nephews and Nieces and a host of friends and family. Judi will be missed. The date of Judi's celebration of Life will be announced soon.
