When I think of Val, I think Big smiles and warm heart felt hugs and goofy sense of humor ❤ When my sister Lynne married her son Gregg 30+ years ago she always made me felt part of the family with invites weather to the pool or a family beach trip to family holiday dinners when she knew I was going to be a lone. That meant so much to me. One of my favorite memories was at Kyle's wedding when she came to our dinner table and asked if she could join my shy brother and I, she could feel Scott's discomfort of being around so many people, she made us feel so comfortable and loved and joking around, I remember Scott my brother saying what a great lady she was there after.
She loved everyone she met and always stopped to chat with anyone. RIP sweet Val, you will always hold a special place in my ❤

Dear Mom,
So much to say. So much unsaid to you while you were here and your mind wouldn't allow you to understand.
The last couple years of your life were so cruel and unfair to such a wonderful, loving, caring human. Even though your mind was a jigsaw puzzle of thoughts, and at times unpredictable, your love was the one thing that always came through as clearly as your bright smile. But you and I had a special connection where words weren't always needed. When you hurt, I hurt. When you were happy, I was.
You were born to be a giver of life and love - a natural, nurturing mother. Always a baby in your arms, never passing up the chance to hold and kiss one, passing along what it feels like to be loved. Your dedication, sacrifice and love for all of us kids was steady and unwavering. Even during the most challenging times of our lives.
I am grateful for everything you gave to me and shared so very freely with me. Grateful you gave me the quirkiness of spontaneously breaking into song - making up words when needed; grateful you gave up your early, early mornings to help me deliver newspapers; grateful you passed along your love of chocolate to me; grateful you were "Team Mom" even before there was such a thing; grateful for all the times you made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for camping and running events; grateful for the Friday mornings I got to share coffee and conversation with you; grateful to have experienced your spontaneous and witty sense of humor; grateful for your smile, your touch, your hugs!
You gave me so much of your soul on that April day in 1959... and a lifetime of sharing your soul and unconditional love with me. As you said to me when no other words could come out... "Love, Love, Love".
Mom, "I love you forever.... as long as I'm living, my mother you'll be."
Gregg
