Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Virginia "Jenny" Plasterer Vancouver, Washington March 19, 1935 ~ June 3, 2020 Jenny’s Obituary Virginia “Jenny” Plasterer went home to be with her Lord the morning of June 3rd, 2020. She died at home peacefully in her sleep with family and friends at her bedside. She succumbed to complications from lung and heart diseases which had plagued her in recent years. Jenny was born March 19, 1935 in Texline, TX to Tom and Opal Manning. Jenny was the eighth child out of a total of eleven. Jenny spent her childhood and early teen years moving around quite a bit in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and New Mexico as her parents were transferred often as an Evangelist (father) and Pastor (mother) in the Pentecostal Holiness Denomination. The Biblical roots established there eventually produced the strong Woman of God that all those who knew her now grew to love and respect her Godly wisdom and compassion. In her early twenties, Jenny settled in Southern California where she eventually met her first husband, Ron Walker on a blind date. Together they grew in the Lord and became leaders in their church in the San Marcos/Vista area of North San Diego Co. Sadly, their life together was cut short when Ron was taken by cancer at the early age of 44, leaving behind, in addition to Jenny, a married daughter and two teenage boys. After a brief stay in So. Florida, she returned to Orange County California, and found a new church home in the Anaheim Vineyard. Once again, she immersed herself into every area of ministry where she could be of use, continuing to grow and mature in her Christian walk. Coming to the conclusion that the Lord probably wanted her to remain single, she was persuaded to go on another blind date with Don Plasterer, who was on a temporary work assignment from Ohio to Long Beach to finish out his working career before retiring. After about six months of many long distance calls and several visits back and forth between California and Ohio, Don and Jenny were married on September 2, 1989 with all of their combined six kids and four of five grandkids (one was too young) in the wedding! After spending the first five years of their marriage in So. Cal., Don and Jenny moved to Vancouver, WA in 1994. They quickly became heavily involved in church life and service again, first at the Vancouver Vineyard and later to the present at Kessid Church. During her working career Jenny worked as an Office Manager in two different chiropractic offices in California and later as a church secretary in Vancouver. Jenny always enjoyed playing cards, especially Shanghai Rummy or Pinochle and Mexican Train dominoes. She is survived by her husband Don, children Kathryn (Odis) Carter of Oklahoma City, Thomas Walker of Vancouver, David (Andrea) Walker of Battle Ground, grand children Bradley Carter, Vanessa Negley and Jonathan Carter, all in Oklahoma, Ryan, Tyler and Trevor Walker, all of Battle Ground, step children Debra Plasterer, Jill Snyder and Tim Plasterer, all in Ohio, step grandchildren Megan Snyder and George Snyder III, also in Ohio, as well as thirteen great grandchildren in the blended family, and sister Veda “Mari” Manning of Edmond, OK, as well as many nieces and nephews. In memory of Jenny, contributions may be made either to Kessid Church, P.O. Box 874269, Vancouver, WA 98687 or One Life Food Pantry, P.O. Box 66, Battle Ground, WA 98604. Thank you. Her body will be cremated, with arrangements being handled by Cascadia Cremations. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date after current restrictions are lifted.
