Jeffrey I. Matthews
August 8th 1955-June 1st, 2020
Jeff was born in Los Angeles, California to Gerry and Dolores Matthews. Growing up Jeff enjoyed dirt bikes, surfing, swimming and earned all his pins and awards in the Boy Scouts. Jeff also hiked from the East coast to the West coast, which he was very proud of accomplishing. As a young adult he earned his AA in Agriculture and won many swimming competitions including being an Olympic contender.
As an adult he volunteered for Habitat to Humanity and was a proud blood donor, earning pins for liters donated.
Jeff worked and retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Containers after 28 years of employment
His most favorite thing to do was travel with his sister and wife. Jeffs most favorite places to go were the gold coast and the keys of Florida and the Big Island of Hawaii. His other past times were spending time on our small farm and spending time with family.
Jeff leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Debbra Matthews, one daughter from a previous marriage, Rachelle Garcia. One brother and one sister, Greg Matthews and Kathi Roberds. There is many other family members left behind including his Aunt Nancy Matthews and cousins he was very close with, plus numerous in-laws and nephews and nieces.
There will be a private family service. Any donations can go to the American Cancer Society.
