I first met Steve at his family's house in North matewan West Virginia in 1976. I was at my grandmothers. our neighbors Bruce whitt and Janice whitt lived 2 houses up I was always a curious kid so I went up to see all the people that were there and we hit it off right away his love of electronic & Music, Science, was also my passion he made a crystal radio set down in Bruce's basement with just a few household items and radio parts. That astonished me and he also loved the hit show at that time welcome back Kotter and the song. every time that song plays on the radio makes me think of Steve. He also Showed me how to make small rockets using aluminum foil around the heads up match sticks which I have showed to my kids. His family also paid for a model subscription for a few years I built everyone one from ships to airplanes, to Viking ships and I was always very grateful for that. we rekindled our friendship a few years ago on Facebook i was hoping to see him again one day then I found out this awful news today i'm still shocked and saddened by the news I will always remember you I miss you Steve your best friend charles kinder

Steve just had a change of address. He will be missed; never forgotten. Carol, I hope I see you again someday. And if I don't, I'll see you both in Heaven.

Carol, I just read Steve's obituary in the Prescott paper and am holding you in my prayers and in my heart. Have lost touch with you both but am glad you have been together all this time. I have thought of you often, in fact just last week in relation to Stepping Stones. Please let me know if you are going to be here for the memorial service and if there is anything I can do for you. I remember Steve as an outgoing, fearless, larger than life personality and I admired that about him. After not having seen him in several years, he had come over to my house when I was an early teen and he was so amazed that his little cousin had outgrown her Mickey Mouse drum kit (that he had fun playing) and now owned heavy metal records like Ozzy. While I was going through such an awkward phase, he really made me feel like I was cool and I loved him for that.

Steve and I met in grade school and we could always talk about anything, I have 6 brothers so talk was easy. He was such a kind kid and adult. He was always bubbly and full of life with a quick smile and his joyous nature. So thankful to have gotten together a few months ago after not seeing each other in about 25 years, met his wonderful wife Carol and discovered that he had not changed, he was the same great guy I knew growing up. Carol my heartfelt condolences to you, I know he will be missed terribly. We will meet again!

STEVE WAS LIKE A BROTHER TO ME. WE DID NOT ALWAYS AGREE, BUT THIS LAST YEAR WE SHARED A LOT BY PHONE. STEVE WAS/IS MARRIED TO MY SIS, CAROL. I FELT VERY CLOSE TO STEVE THIS YEAR, AND WE TALKED ON THE PHONE VERY OFTEN, AND I WAS BLESSED TO HAVE THIS TIME TO SHARE WITH STEVE, AND HE WITH ME. I WILL SO MISS OUR TALKS. SENDING THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS TO CAROL, AND ALL THE PEOPLE HE TOUCHED, AND HIS FAMILY. STEVE WAS GIFTED IN TOUCHING LIFE'S, AND HELPING OTHERS. I BELIEVE THAT WAS ONE OF HIS GIFTS. GOD BLESS ALL THAT ARE GRIEVING.

Lyrics: Neil Peart
Suddenly —
You were gone
From all the lives
You left your mark upon
I remember —
How we talked and drank
Into the misty dawn
— I hear the voices
We ran by the water
On the wet summer lawn
— I see the foot prints
I remember —
— I feel the way you would
— I feel the way you would
Tried to believe
But you know it’s no good
This is something
That just can’t be understood
I remember —
The shouts of joy
Skiing fast through the woods
— I hear the echoes
I learned your love for life
I feel the way that you would
— I feel your presence
I remember —
I feel the way you would
This just can’t be understood…

We are grateful for all the good times that we did get to spend with Steve. He was fun to be around and had a great sense of humor. I'll always remember the little Steve-isms that were just inside family jokes that we'd share over and over again with much laughter. Cheese - a - cheater.

Everyone will miss Steve. When he finally got his life together, it was cut much too short. He was musically in step with everything from the time he was a small child. He gently explained Rock ‘n Roll to me one evening and led me through the different phases to help me understand. Steve was a terrific drummer. He was a charming person. I will miss him, too.
