Obituary of Hazel Mae Evernham
Please share a memory of Hazel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Hazel Evernham, 89, of Battle Ground, Washington, passed away on February 5, 2020. Hazel was born on November 18, 1930 to John Milton and Hazel Aline Hamilton in Oakdale, Louisiana. She attended Oakdale High School. She married James Moseley in 1948 and had their son James in 1950. She remarried Paul Evernham in 1954, and had their daughter Paula in 1956.
Hazel dedicated herself to supporting husband Paul and children throughout his military service and the family’s many moves, including France, Japan, Illinois, Texas, Thailand and California. They settled in Federal Way, WA in 1969 after Paul’s retirement.
Hazel became a realtor in Federal Way until her retirement in 2007. She also volunteered with the local symphony and with the Juvenile Court Conference Committee in Federal Way. She moved to Battle Ground, WA in 2008 to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Hazel loved to share stories of her childhood in Oakdale and her adventures living overseas. She was a proud and passionate supporter of her 2 children and 4 grandchildren and loved them all dearly.
Hazel is survived by her son Jim, daughter Paula, and her grandchildren Adam, 40, Blake, 33, Christopher, 27 and Elizabeth, 25. She will be missed greatly by her family.
We want to express appreciation for the care given to Hazel in her last years by the staff at Vintage Years, Manor Health Care Services in Salmon Creek and Community Hospice.
