Stephen James Wilson, 75, of Vancouver, Washington passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from esophageal cancer. He is survived by his brother Alan (Brenda) Wilson of Port St. Lucie, FL, his niece Elizabeth (Lawrence) Deuber of King of Prussia, PA, his great-nephew Jonathan Deuber of King of Prussia, PA, and his companion, Arleta Miller of Battle Ground, WA.
Stephen grew up in Chester Springs, PA, and graduated from Downingtown High School in 1962. He received his Bachelors in Physics from Duke University in 1966, and went on to receive both his Masters and PhD in Low Energy Nuclear Physics from the University of Wisconsin. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada before working as a computer programmer for the National Marine Fisheries Service, first in Seattle, WA and then in Kodiak, AK. Stephen then worked for the FAA as an electronics engineer and moved to Anchorage, AK. He retired from the FAA in September 2002 at the age of 58.
After retirement, Stephen made the move to Vancouver, WA, traveling in his RV from Anchorage. He joined the Trails Club with his friend Nancy in 2003.
Stephen was an avid traveler, bird watcher, hiker, camper, nature enthusiast, coin & stamp collector and photographer.
If desired, donations can be made to the National Audubon Society or any nature conservation organization.
There will be no funeral. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
