Obituary of John D. Cunningham
John D. Cunningham, born May 3, 1945, in Santa Monica, California, died peacefully with his wife at his side on April 19, 2019, at his home in Vancouver, Washington.
John was a true California beach boy. Raised in Redondo and Hermosa Beach back in the day (1945-66), he met Gisela and fell in love, got drafted into the Navy during the Vietnam War, married Gisela (1967), had three sons (1969, 1971 and 1972), and built a business in Washington State that supported his family for forty years (1976-2016).
He leaves his wife, Gisela; sons Sean, Brent and Kyle; seven grandchildren; sister Judy Ellis; the Schmidt family; and countless friends and acquaintances.
John will be given military honors at the Willamette National Cemetery on Friday, May 3rd, at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Friends of Hospice Southwest Washington (//friends-of-hospice.org).
John was a good man. He will be dearly missed.
