Darlene Faye Hunt (Bristol)

July 29th, 1942—January 31st, 2019

Darlene was born in Bottineau, North Dakota to Theodore and Ellen Bristol (née Decker), and grew up with a large family of three brothers and three sisters in the city of Minot, ND. A life long Lutheran, the granddaughter of settlers from Norway and Iceland, who farmed and raised cattle, of which she was very proud. She graduated from High School in 1960 in Mandan, ND, and was chosen as class Valedictorian. That same year she met and married William Keating, who was in the United States Air Force, and started out on an adventure living in Florida, Illinois, Germany, Nebraska, and on the island of Guam. From this marriage, that ended in 1974, they had three children. In 1975 she met the love of her life, LaVern “Dutch” Hunt, and they moved to Portland, Oregon in 1977 where she worked in the restaurant industry before retiring in the early 1990s. 

She loved crafts, and was a talented painter, seamstress, and a great cook. Her favorite responsibility was to her family and friends, always making the time to help those in need or just to lend an ear. She leaves behind many who loved her dearly and will miss her encouraging words or advice.

Survived by husband Dutch, daughter Jodi Keating Meagher (Kelly), North Plains, OR, son William Keating (Leslie), Vancouver, WA, son John Keating (Lisa), Battle Ground, WA, step-daughters Cindy Anderson (Bob), Tri-Cities, WA and Patti Hoglen, Tri-Cities, WA, step-son Marc Hunt, Clarkston, WA, and former daughter in-law Teresa Keating, Vancouver, WA.Grandchildren Camryn, Kirsten, Erik, Erin, Kyle, Shawn, Kira, Jessica, Samantha, Ronni Jo, and Nick. Great grandchildren Andre, Carter, and Stella. Brothers Terry (Gloria), Spokane, WA, Theodore and Rick, Minot, and Sister Diane Ramos, Olympia, WA. Nieces and Nephews Trakena, Angel, Brandi, Justin, Ingrid, Erika, Janelle, Michelle, Jaime, Dillon, and Cody. Preceded in death by her parents, sister Cindy, and sister Phyllis.
