Obituary of Stephen Michael Hainley II
Stephen Michael Hainley II
Stephen Michael Hainley II received his angel wings on Saturday December 8, 2018 at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, WA, following an heroic 8 year journey after a devastating stroke in 2010. He was surrounded by family and close friends.
Steve was born June 13, 1971 in Long Beach, California, to Lynne (Branch) and Stephen Hainley. The family relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 1977. Steve attended schools in Oregon and Washington, last attending Portland Community College, majoring in music. Before his stroke, Steve was a musician, playing bass guitar in several bands, as well as many studio projects. His main job was a barista for Coffee People at the Portland Airport. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed music, visiting friends, skateboarding, clubbing, attending concerts, watching movies and photography (especially deserted buildings.)
After his stroke, Steve’s activities were more limited, but he still attended concerts, movies, yoga, and occasionally was able to make it to a night club. He also spent countless hours in rehabilitation and therapeutic training, working hard to regain his skills.
Throughout his life Steve loved being with people, and maintained a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed by all.
Steve joins his grandparents, Harold & Kathryn Hainley and David & Virginia Branch, in heaven. He is survived by his parents Lynne & Steve Hainley, his brothers John & Daniel Hainley, and many relatives and close friends.
Please wear purple, or your favorite band shirt, to Steve’s Celebration of Life on Saturday January 19, 2019, beginning at 1:05 pm at the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Steve’s name to Adapt Advanced at https://helphopelive.org/campaign/27/
