Eva Marie O'Bannon

Vancouver, Washington

June 20, 1956 ~ October 18, 2018

On October 18, 2018 Eva Marie O’Bannon (Serviss), beloved mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother passed away at Peace Health in Vancouver, Washington with family by her side. Eva was born June 20, 1956 and was raised by her father Ken Serviss and her mother Sheila (Matsell) in the Pacific Northwest. As a child Eva was a daddy’s girl and remained so, calling him “Daddy” up until the day she passed. Eva commanded her father’s attention when she was a little girl by slapping his newspaper and giggling until he would put it down.

Taught by her father, Eva became a piano technician in the 80’s. She studied at the Piano Hospital in Vancouver, Washington. She tuned pianos into the mid 90’s when she had a change of career. She drove a city bus in San Diego, California and also in the Portland area at Trimet until she began to experience health problems in 2005.

Eva had a way with people. She always knew how to make someone feel good about who they were no matter their background. Her love, compassion, and ability to understand and empathize is what made her such an amazing mother, not only to her own children, but to so many others. She was a mother to many throughout her life. Eva knew how to make her kids feel special. After long talks, she would tell them each that they were her favorite. It was their secret. But in reality, they were all her favorite. She loved and appreciated them unconditionally, no matter their circumstance.

Eva was also an animal lover. Of all the pets she had in her life, she did have a favorite: a little Silky Terrier named Zeus. He was by her side for 18 years, through thick and thin, until his death 3 years ago.

Eva will be most remembered by her friendly smile, her witty sense of humor, and her ability to laugh in any situation, even during difficult times. She always looked at life from a glass-half-full perspective and was grateful for what she had. She led a life full of love, laughter, and mostly barefoot if she could. A free spirit, Eva was known to pick up and move on a moment’s notice. She loved road trips and sharing new experiences, especially in nature, with her family and friends.

She is preceded by her mother Sheila, her sister Dawn, and her favorite pet Zeus. She is survived by her father Ken Serviss, brother Arnott Serviss, sister Tina, her four children, Aaron Albert, Alexander Schram, Alicia Bugbey, and Andrea O’Bannon, and her 10 grandchildren.

There will be A celebration of life with family and friends in mid-July where we will be spreading her ashes at Dougan Falls in Washougal, Washington, her favorite place in the whole world.
