Donna Lea Yancey
Donna Lea Yancey, age 72 of Battle Ground WA, passed away on September 22, 2018, peacefully in her home after a long battle with cancer.
Donna was born on May 29, 1946 in Portland OR to Elizabeth Lucretia (Reinhardt) Pharis and George Leroy Pharis. After growing up in Portland, she moved to California, graduating from Sacramento High. Donna went on to study interior design at Sacramento College. Ultimately graduating from airline school in Los Angeles, she moved to Oregon and eventually started her own travel agency, one of the largest agencies in Portland: ABC of Travels & Cruises.
A natural athlete, she enjoyed softball, bowling and golf. Donna also loved sailing and boating, and most outdoor activities!
Donna was a former member of the Portland Soroptimists, and was currently involved in Community Service with the Women’s Auxiliary, Legacy - Salmon Creek WA. She was also supportive of non-profit Rogue Pack in Portland, specifically for teen girls from the foster care system involved in drama therapy workshops.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, Guy Yancey; devoted daughter, Michelle Gohl; sons Richard and Ernest Freitag; sister Barbara Overby; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Ann Yancey Syrett (Tony Syrett). Donna was preceded in death by her Sister Dorothy Casey, and brothers George and Charles Pharis.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 21st at the Columbia River Yacht Club, 37 NE Tomahawk Island Dr, Portland OR 97217 at two o’clock in the afternoon.
