July 20, 1953 ~ June 30, 2018

 

Gordon William Cates, 64 of Washougal, Washington passed away on June 30th, 2018 in Vancouver, Washington.  Gordon was born on July 20, 1953 in Ely, Nevada to Martha Jane (Thrasher) and Gordon Bruno Cates.  

Gordon proudly served as an Elder for 15 years at the Washougal Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. He had the privilege of sharing in an international volunteer work. He delighted most participating in ship witnessing.

Gordon enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables. His favorite flower was the rose. He also enjoyed fishing and photography. He always had a camera in his hands. His greatest joy was spending time with the family, especially the grandchildren, and traveling with his best friend Connie Cates.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Connie Cates.  Son Mark with wife Cristal and their two children Clayton and Casey. Son, Chris Cates with wife Monica, and their three children Jamaree, Braxton and Aubrey’Ann. Six Brothers, Donald Cates, Jerry Cates, Les Cates, Larry Gappmayer and Keith Gappmayer. Step-father Ray Gappmayer.

He is preceded in death by his Father, Gordon Bruno Cates and Mother, Martha Gappmayer.

Services will be held at the Jehovah’s Witness Washougal Kingdom Hall on 735 H St, Washougal, WA 98671 At 2pm.
