Marlene Sanae Yamada Klaus, 68, passed away on May 21, 2018 after a prolonged illness.
She is survived by her husband John of 28 years, and her four siblings.
Marlene was born in Denver, Colorado. Her parents Yozo and Haruko Yamada raised Marlene to be a hard working and honest person. She was proud of her Japanese American heritage. She attended Scripps College and the University of Colorado where she earned her Masters Degree in Counseling. She worked for the Vancouver School District for 18 years as a School Counselor. Marlene was loved by her students and was honored four different times in “The Who’s Who Among American Teachers”.
Marlene was a quiet and simple person who loved nature and animals, especially all of her kitties. She will be greatly missed by all those who know and love her.
A memorial service will be held on Monday June 4, 2018 at 2:00pm in the LDS church building at 14809 NE 259th St, Battle Ground, WA 98604.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Humane Society for SW Washington.
