Daniel L. Lowe

June 27, 1947 - March 18, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel L. Lowe announces his passing on Sunday, March 18th, 2018, at the age of 70 years. Dan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 35 years, Susan and his children Virginia, Veronica, Victoria, Kelly and Robin. Dan will also be fondly remembered by his fourteen grandchildren, Kameran Lowe-Ash, Kyron Lowe-Ash, Vanessa, Maria, Angela, Sarah, Madeline, Nick, Kayla, Eric Jr, Ashley, Tiffany, Kerri, Alexandria. As well as six great-grandkids.

Dan grew up in Elgin, Illinois where he enlisted in the Marine Corps on 23 August 1966. He served as a Machine Gunner with Marine Barracks, NS serving in Vietnam from 22 April 1966 to 18 April 1968, earning the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. He then transferred to H&MS-37 on 12 June 1970 as a Supply Sergeant where he spent the next three years, seven months and fourteen days. He earned the Rifle Marksman Badge, Meritorious Unit Commendation and another Good Conduct Medal. He left the Marine Corps on 25 January 1974. He might have got out of the Marine Corps, but the Marine Corps never got out of him. He was a tried and true Marine.  He then enlisted into the Oregon Army National Guard where he performed duties as a Cook and Supply Sergeant with Troop F 116^th Cavalry. He spent the next nine years serving with the Oregon Guard making it to the rank of E5, Sergeant. He earned the Oregon Faithful Service Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal and two more Good Conduct Medals. He finally got out of the military on 30 September 1990 serving a total of 16 years, 5 months and 27 days.

A Funeral Service in memory of Dan will be held on Monday March 26, 2018 at 11:30am, at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd. Portland, OR 97086-6937.
