Obituary of James D Matthies
James D. Matthies
January 11, 2018 - March 13, 2018
Jim Matthies passed away peacefully March 13th, 2018 after a long bout of pneumonia at home with his wife Judy, at his side. He was born in Sand Point, ID and moved to Vancouver, WA after serving in the Marine Corps.
Jim retired from BN RR after 35 years.
Jim will be forever missed by his family: wife of 55 years, Judy; daughter, Cari Ecklund (Jon); sons, Michael (Lisa) and Christopher (Ana); and 6 beloved grandsons; as well as his beloved pal "Hildie."
Cheering on his children and grandchildren at countless sporting events, teasing and playing with them, having them "walk" up his chest, and making them laugh all gave him great joy! He was known as "Dad," "Pops," and "Grandpa Jim" by friends of the children and grandchildren,
all of whom he loved.
We have been blessed to have spent many vacations with family and friends over the years. Playing at the beach, climbing sand dunes, splashing in pools, and listening to jazz will be memories we can hold on to and cherish.
Jim touched the lives of many and will leave a hole in our lives. At his request, a Celebration of Life will be held at his beloved home of 45 years on Sat., March 24th from 2-5p.m. for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org
In Loving Memory
James Matthies
