Beau and I became instant friends when he came to attend school in Ridgefield. We both enjoyed fishing and it became an after school routine. I liked to fish, but Beau absolutely loved the sport and pretty much was obsessed with fishing. He always tackled each trip with a bottle of mountain dew and a large box of hot tamales, a favorite candy of Beau's that he would later say was not a heathy snack. I would give him heck because he would have to dump the candy in a small paper sack. He was very particular on any one touching his candy. We were young and had so many fun days chasing fish.
Around the same time Beau had a great passion for Trains. I lived close to the tracks and you could hear the trains coming from a long distance. Beau would drop what ever task we had been doing and run to get a view of the train, returning to tell you the type of engine, hp, speed, number of cars, ect. Beau knew more about train then the engineers. He really was impressed by the power and size of fright trains.
When Beau set his mind to something he dug down deep to understand all aspects. He worked very hard to wrap his mind around it. I remember at times being exhausted as a young man just trying to keep up as he would explain things to me. He never would give up, one hour or two weeks, Beau would hammer you untell you understood what it was trying to teach you. He didn't do it to prove he was smarter, he was motivated by his interest and he thought if you could understand it that you could find the same joy.
As we grew older we were vary blessed in that Beau's Grandma could drive us any place we wanted to go. We spent alot of time fishing Lake Sacajawea in Longview and bull riding lessons in Canby Oregon, just to name a few. It was always so much fun.
Beau was also fascinated with music of all types. We spent countless hours after school listening to Steve and Kims albums of Jimmy Buffett, Ian Tyson, George Strait, Neil Young, Stevie Ray Vaughan, James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, and on and on. It was a never ending the list of musicians that inspired Beau. Later Beau was living in Longview and would driver to Ridgefield to play me a new song he would think I needed to hear, those were very special moments that I have missed. Because his father was in the audio industry Beau was always the expert on adjusting the treble and bass and wold screw with every stereo he past until it sounded prefect.
I had many opportunities to work with Beau growing up and he always wanted the job that would make him sweat the most. The tougher the job the more he enjoyed it. He always pulled twice his weight. He loved being outdoors and for a short time when we were young told me his dream job would be riding fence on the Range. He always had a real understanding of animals and found great joy in working with livestock.
Beau had many characteristics that set him apart from others. The most unique thing about Beau was if you were his family or friend he would put you on a pedestal and hold you in very high regard. No matter your imperfections. Beau always had your back even when it was ill-advised. Not many people value family and friendship like Beau did. I didn't see Beau very often and for that I have many regrets, but when we did cross paths he always treated me like no time had past. Telling me the special foods I should be eating and the work out program he could put me on, as I have gotten a little bigger then he liked. Alway looking out for people. I'm really rambling and could go on for days.
I would say rest in peace, but Beau is not resting. He is to busy clearing a path for all of us.
Lots of love buddy..
