Obituary of George Dillard Clark
George Dillard Clark
George Dillard Clark was born August 27th, 1923 in Fresno, California. The family lived in Bakersfield for 15 years and then moved to Madera in 1938. In high school, he participated in football, track and boxing plus earned money by working as a “box boy” at Safeway.
After graduation, George worked as a teller at Bank of America in Gridley, CA. and then joined the Marines in 1943. Dad wanted to learn to fly but because of eye problems from birth and his experience as a teller, he was assigned to the paymaster department at Miramar near San Diego. He was discharged in 1946 and went back to work with Bank of America in Bakersfield.
It was shortly thereafter that he met a pretty brunette, Ethel, who also worked at the bank. They were married in 1948 and lived in Bakersfield for 65 years. They raised two children, Patricia and Gary, and enjoyed playing golf, camping, traveling, and attending jazz festivals. His loving wife of 68 years, Ethel, passed away in 2016.
George will be remembered for his dedication to family and physical fitness as he and Ethel continued visiting the gym into their late 80’s. He is now joyfully reunited with his wife, parents and siblings in the world of spirits and we look forward the day when we will all be together as a family with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
