Donald Hugo Olson
Mr. Donald Olson, son of late Arthur Bishop Olson and Helen Olson, was born March 29, 1934 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was a retired Mechanical Engineer and died September 9, 2017 peacefully in his sleep.
He was united in matrimony to Alice Olson in November of 1956. This union was blessed with seven children. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary November 24, 2016.
He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1956 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His career took him all over the USA and Canada. He and his wife Alice retired to Lynden, Washington in 1999. They moved to San Antonio in 2010 to be closer to family and then came back to the northwest to Vancouver, Washington in 2015 living with their son, Philip.
Don was a devoted father and an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed traveling for work and pleasure and visited many counties around the world. He loved his humor books, Readers Digest and National Geographic.
His life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Debora (the late Vito) Donato of Bolingbrook, IL, Judy (Carl) Jones of Spavinaw, OK, Philip Olson of Vancouver, WA, Beverley (Reginald) Spurs of Houston, TX, Betty (Hilario) Flores of Houston, TX, Paul (Karen) Olson of Fulton, MO, and Robert Olson of Nashville, TN; sixteen grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; ; sister Linda Schultz of Folsom, PA sister-in-law, Betty Reitmeier of Regina, SK, CAN; devoted family friends JoAnn and Nancy Rae, and Lynda and Bob Hudson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
