Obituary of Lloyd "Dragon" Houlden
Lloyd "Dragon" Houlden
February 23, 1963 - June 25, 2017
From a young age most of us are taught to be a normal functioning member of society, at least what the majority of people would call normal.
For everyone who knows my family, expecially my fabulous uncle Lloyd, we are anything by normal. He was the kind of person that attracted attention to himself with his flamboyance. It was this quality about himself that gave him the ability to approach just about anyone and strike up a conversation; which more times than not led to a friendship. To put it simply he was just Loyd like it or lump it.
Throughout his life he held many job titles. He was an interpretor for the deaf, a chef. He wasa strong advocate for individuals who suffered from various mental health problems and addictions. The title he was most proud of was that of an "earth angel". He earned that title from his various achievements in the field of humanism, leaving a print on the hearts of those he touched. He did this sometimes even to his own demise.
So when your eyes start to well up with tears from his passing, try to remember that all of us who knew him were personally touched by a real life angel. He has now become a guardian angel to all of those that he held close to his heart and that held him close to theirs.
