Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Scott Dixson April 26, 1949 – May 23, 2026 Robert Scott Dixson, lovingly known as Scott, passed on peacefully on May 23, 2026, in Vancouver, Washington, at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 26, 1949, in San Francisco, California, to Ed and Lillian Dixson, Scott carried his San Francisco roots proudly throughout his life. As perhaps the biggest fan ever of the San Francisco 49ers, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved team and share his enthusiasm with those around him. Scott graduated from San Luis Obispo High School and later attended technical school, beginning a career that reflected his strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and remarkable ability to solve problems. Throughout his professional life, he worked as a service technician and sales associate in several industries, including for the State of Oregon and a German-based fire protection company. His work took him to Germany twice, experiences he enjoyed immensely and often recounted with family and friends. Scott was also known for his ability to "fix anything." Whether it was a broken appliance or a household project, family and friends knew Scott would find a way. Scott proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He found joy in life's simple pleasures: camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle, listening to music, playing cards, watching football, and, most importantly, spending time with his family. For many years, he performed in the choir of The Singing Christmas Tree. His favorite vacation destinations were Hawaii and Lake Tahoe, where he created many treasured memories with those he loved. In his later years, Scott became a cherished member of the Truewood senior living community, where he served as a community ambassador and brought joy to residents and staff alike by portraying Santa Claus during the holiday season. His kindness and warm smile left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Scott was also known for his memorable sayings. Family and friends will forever smile when they hear phrases such as, "10-4, Eleanor," "You betcha, Red Rider," and his classic response whenever someone announced they needed to use the restroom: "Mention my name, and you'll get a good seat." He even had his own name for utensils, affectionately calling them "entrenchment tools." These little expressions became part of who he was and are among the many things those who loved him will miss most. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Judy Dixson; his sons, Chris Dixson and Troy Gardner; and his daughter, Cindy Carney. He was also a proud and devoted "Pappy," whose love, guidance, and presence enriched the lives of his grandchildren and extended family. As a husband, father, and Pappy, Scott impacted us beyond measure. He was marked by his faith, humble servanthood, generosity, and ability to find humor even in difficult circumstances. His steady presence, unwavering love, and willingness to help others made him a blessing to all who knew him. Our lives are forever changed because we had the privilege of being loved by him. Scott's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his compassion, laughter, wisdom, and service to others. He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for who he was: a faithful husband, devoted father, grandfather, loyal friend, gifted fixer of all things, and a man whose love left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Scott's honor through cancer.org He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. ❤️
