Obituary of Mark Benjamin Shaw

Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mark Shaw On March 29, 2026 Mark Shaw passed away at his home in Vancouver, WA surrounded by his wife Rinda and children Amber and Scott. He was born February 21, 1952 in San Jose, CA. His family moved several times over the years but settled for a time in Stockton, CA. That is where, while attending Amos Alonzo Stagg Sr. High School, he met the love of his life, Rinda. They married in 1973 and shared 52 years together. While in high school Mark became interested in the car hobby. His first car was a 1971 MG Midget. Years later his dad bought a 1913 Buick and they worked on it together. Mark was hooked and owned several Buicks over the years, his favorite being a 1908 Buick named “Ruby.” He also belonged to several antique car clubs and toured extensively with his wife by his side. He made numerous friends along the way and loved sharing information, stories and jokes. His car buddies could always depend on him to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Mark was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1972 and honorably discharged in 1974 with the rank of SP4. His service time was spent in Germany where he was a Pioneer Engineer and a Military Policeman. It was here where Mark and Rinda spent the first year of their marriage and were able to travel to England, the Netherlands, France and many other locations. Quite the honeymoon. Once back in the U.S. Mark attended Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA studying Environmental Engineering. He then went to work in Stockton, CA for Rinda’s dad learning the pump and well drilling business. He had the opportunity to move on to the chemical pump and valve industry where he worked for over 25 years of his career as a Regional Manager. There were several moves with his position but the family finally settled in Battle Ground, WA and finally to Vancouver, WA. In 2022 Mark was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. It is unknown how he got this disease but it has no cure. If anyone wishes donations can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in his honor. Per Mark’s wishes there will be no services or memorials. Mark leaves behind his wife, Rinda; daughter, Amber (Chad); son Scott (Renee) and 5 grandchildren Rachael, Sabrina, Benjamin, Esme and Eden. Also, his sisters, Lorna Zurilgen and Barbara Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents Winthrop and Virginia Shaw. On Mark’s last night before his passing he said “Goodnight.” So appropriate and that will always be remembered. “Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.” Mitch Albom
