Obituary of Janet Ann Taggart
Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Janet Ann Taggart (born Jerde)
of Vancouver, Washington, passed away on November 16, 2025 , at the age of 74.
Janet was born and raised in California to parents Ervin and Dorothy Jerde. She proudly served in the U.S. Navy, where she spent time abroad in Germany—an experience she fondly remembered throughout her life.
Following her military service, Janet pursued studies in accounting and built a long career with the Internal Revenue Service while living in Portland, Oregon. After retirement, she embraced a quieter life on a farm in Deer Island, Oregon, where she found great joy living in the country.
A lifelong learner, Janet was exceptionally well read and enjoyed intellectual discussions and solving riddles. She cherished time spent with her family and pets, finding deep fulfillment in those connections. After being widowed, she found comfort and companionship in the company of her siblings during her later years.
Janet is lovingly remembered by her daughter Serena Gerlach of Germany; Serena’s spouse Toni; and her grandsons Luca and Ezra. She also leaves behind her sister Robyn Kinns, brother Eric Jerde, and nieces Carmy Robertson and Christine Rath and their families.
She was loved deeply and will be missed terribly. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
