George Edward Winter

1938 - 2018

George Edward Winter, 79, passed away on March 22, 2018 in Vancouver, Washington.  George was born on April 24, 1938 in Flint, Michigan to Ruth Irene (Shoemaker) and Leo Michael Winter.  George was the second oldest of five children.

George grew up in Michigan, where he went to school and played baseball.  His father passed away when George was just 17, so George went to work rather than perusing a career in baseball.  In fact he worked two jobs; the lumber company by day and a police officer by night.  He got into masonry, which brought him to the west coast for work. He ended up leaving masonry and got into hanging drywall, which he did for 33 years until retirement.

George enjoyed outdoor activities, camping, hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed golfing, playing pool and playing poker.  His love of baseball as sports followed him throughout his life.  He enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball, football and NASCAR

He is remembered and will be missed by his wife of 45 years, Kathy Winter; five sons and one daughter, 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters and three sister-in-laws.

A Private gathering will be held at a later date.
