Obituary of Duane Close

Duane Ellsworth Close went home peacefully to we with the Lord on May, 18, 2017 while in hopice care. He was born September 20, 1939 in St. John, North Dakota.  He spent the first six years of his life on a ranch in North Dakota which instilled in him love of the simple things in life and the love of all God's little animals. He moved to Vancouver, Washington at age six and had spent the majority of his adult life in the Vancovuer area. He spent 13 years in the US Navy and had fond memories of the time he seved his Country.  He loved his Lord God with all his heart and always had a word of encouragement and a listening ear for those who needed comfort.

He is survived by his wife and soul-mate, Claire, a son, Danny and daughter-in-law, Brenda, and three lovely grandchildren; also his beloved Boston Terriers, Scooter and Molly.  His loyalty to his God and family will be fondly remembered.

In lieu of flowers the family requrest that donations be made in his name to his favorite charity, St. Joseph's Indian School, PO Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326

Many thanks to all of the staff at Community Home Hospice for all their loving care during his last days.

A military service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, OR on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 12:30PM.
